ROUGEMONT, NC :: Chuck Lawson (42) would win the first ferocious battle of the night in the Late Model division. Barely beating out points leader Craig Moore (1) by a car length.

Two incidents would occur early in the race. The first would involve Timberlake’s Mike Chambers (27) and Raleigh’s Bradley McCaskill (18). Chambers car was sent spinning in turns one and two after collision with McCaskill. The Second caution would come form Oxford’s Terry Dease (06) on lap 17 after he spun trying to pass Mason Hudson (46) for the fifth position.

The night’s real battle and controversy would take place between points leader Craig Moore and leader Chris Denny. The two would race hard for lead late into the race. Moore would make slight contact with Denny’s left rear tire. It would be enough to puncture it, sending Denny spinning into the wall and ending his night. Denny would show his displeasure to Moore and would later have to be escorted out of the track. Lawson would take advantage of the restart to edge Moore out for the win followed by Brandon Baker (29) in third.

Late Model Race 2
The top six finishing Late Models were inverted leaving sixth place finisher, Chambers as the pole sitter. On the first lap Chambers would yet again be spun, but this time by Dease entering turns one and two sending him to the end of the field. As racing resumed, Baker and Lawson would fight ferociously for the second and third positions. With memories of their confrontation last week, the two would beat and bang. The battle would allow Moore to slip away and end his season on the highest note possible, with a win. “Rowdy” Lawson would pummel Baker out of the second position and into third.

Moore’s win would allow him to clench the 2013 OCS Late Model Championship. Moore stated, “Man I’ve been wanting this since I was a little kid. I will be 36 years old Monday and it has been a long time coming.” Moore’s Championship puts his name with a prestigious list of OCS champions such as NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Timothy Peters and 2011 ASA National Champion Barry Beggarly.

Limited Late Models
The 2010 OCS Limited Late Model Champion Justin Newlin would triumph over Chuck Lawson by an eighth of a car length. Newlin would start in the rear of the field to work his way up to first in the 35 lap event. With a breathtaking pass on the last turn of the last lap, Newlin would overtake Lawson for the win leaving fans on their feet.
