LUCAMA, NC — Persistent rain forced the Championship Auto Racing Series (CARS) to pull the plug on Friday’s practice session at Southern National Motorsports Park which was scheduled ahead of Saturday’s inaugural race.

The rain came just before practice and technical inspection was set to begin and continued off and on throughout the day.  Just as the rain stopped in the early afternoon and the track started drying out, a second band of showers came through with a steady downpour.

Despite the cancellation of Friday’s practice session, several teams had tested on Thursday night and in the days and weeks leading up to the race.  Saturday’s race is still scheduled to go green at 7pm with time trial qualifying at 5pm.  As of now, it is unknown if there are plans for the series to add in practice time.

The CARS Tour X-1R 300 at Southern National Motorsports Park will go green Saturday night at 7pm EST.  For fans unable to make it to the race, RACE22.com will have coverage throughout the day and up to the minute updates on Twitter and RACEFEEDX.com will have live, pay-per-view coverage of the race.
