After enduring an eventful 2020 season plagued by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Solid Rock Carriers CARS Tour announced a diverse schedule for 2021 on Thursday evening that will see the series restart old traditions while simultaneously creating new ones.

Late Model competitors will immediately be tested during the first race when the CARS Tour visits historic Rockingham Speedway, which has not hosted a major event since Kyle Larson won a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at the facility in 2013.

Although Rockingham is the only new track on the schedule, the CARS LMSC Tour will make return to Motor Mile Speedway, Wake County Speedway and Tri-County Motor Speedway, with the latter two having last hosted a race for the series in 2018.

The 2021 schedule will also see the restoration of the CARS LMSC Tour’s two most prestigious events in the Throwback 276 and Old North State Nationals to their original dates and tracks after safety concerns forced the series to cancel the former and move the latter.

Greenville-Pickens Speedway, which hosted the Old North State Nationals in 2020, is on the calendar for 2021, but it will instead host a combination race between the CARS SLM Tour and Southern Super Series on April 10.

That race will be one of four combination events for CARS SLM Tour regulars in 2021, who will have to battle many of the best drivers in the country at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville, Bristol Motor Speedway and Jennerstown Speedway.

Florence Motor Speedway will host a Late Model race on Oct. 2 after serving as a last-minute replacement in 2020 before both the LMSC and SLM Tour conclude their seasons at South Boston Speedway, which will resume operations after the COVID-19 pandemic forced them to briefly shut down.

Among the tracks not returning to the CARS Tour schedule in 2021 include Carteret County Speedway and Southern National Motorsports Park. The Mid-Atlantic Classic at Orange County Speedway for the SLM division will also not return.

Additional details for the 2021 season, including an announcement on a currently vacant May 22 date, will be determined by the CARS Tour in the near future.
