HUDSON, NC :: Garrett Campbell scored his second win of the 2013 season in dominant fashion in the MotorsportsPhotos.com 150 at Tri-County Motor Speedway on Friday night.  Campbell held off Ronnie Bassett and Dillon Bassett in a thrilling battle to the finish.

“It took us a little bit to get by Travis Swaim,” Campbell said.  “He was running that high side there.  We did what we came here to do and that’s lead the most laps and win the race.  We showed what we’re made of.  This is awesome.  If you would’ve seen us in practice yesterday, you would’ve thought we would’ve been lapped traffic but that’s how hard we work on these things.  We don’t give up.  We practiced until we were the last man in practice.  That’s how we are.”

Travis Swaim started the race on the pole and dominated the early portion of the event until Campbell was able to pass him.  Campbell survived several late race restarts and a charge from several drivers.  David Garbo, Jr. and Ronnie Bassett both tried to pass Campbell but couldn’t get by him.  Friday’s win was Campbell’s second win of the season after he won in June at Lonesome Pine Raceway.

“We run 150 laps for a reason,” second place finisher Ronnie Bassett, Jr. said.  “That’s what a race is.  Had a good racecar, just not good enough.  We’ll go home, do some work, come back in two weeks and see what we’ve got.”

Ronnie’s younger brother, Dillon Bassett, fished in third while David Garbo, Jr. and R.A. Brown rounded out the top five.

Friday’s race was the first race to be held this season at Tri-County Motor Speedway.  Campbell and Swaim won the two races held at the track last year.
