NEWTON, NC :: Josh Berry started on the pole and scored the win in Saturday night’s 50-lap Late Model feature at Hickory Motor Speedway.  After surrounding the lead to Landon Huffman early in the race, Berry made the race winning pass on lap 23 and went on to score the victory over his JR Motorsports teammate William Byron.

“Landon Huffman kind of got me on the start,” Berry said.  “I was dragging the racetrack a little bit.  I was just waiting for the air pressures to get up.  I saw him start to get loose so I tried not to push it too much getting up there to him.  My teammate (William Byron) is a little wheelman so I was worried about him getting up there.  I was really just trying to race him honestly.  It was a good race.  I’m just glad to get a win.  It’s really cool for JR Motorsports to get a 1-2 like this.  It’s come from a lot of hard work and I’m glad to be a part of it.”

Byron followed Berry around Huffman and went on to finish second, completing the 1-2 sweep for JR Motorsports.

“JR Motorsports has done really well so far this year,” Byron said.  “I just can’t thank Liberty University enough and my parents, my sister for all the support.  I don’t know if I had anything for Josh at the end.  We were pretty loose off the corner but he was really hooked up.  It’s good to see both JR Motorsports cars running well.”

Huffman went on to finish third after the car became too loose at the end of the race.

“We just started too free,” Huffman stated.  “We were good at the start of the race.  Towards the mid-point of the race, we were fighting loose really bad.  Overall it was a good day, better than the past few weeks.  This is only my third LMSC start.  To finish third behind two JR Motorsports cars is pretty incredible.”

Shane Lee finished in the fourth position while Ashley Huffman finished fifth.

Dylon Wilson won the Limited Late Model feature with Casey Price, Boo Boo Dalton, Travis Byrd and Taylor Stricklin rounding out the top-five.

Hickory’s next race will be on Saturday, March 22nd when the track hosts the inaugural event in the KOMA Unwind Modified Madness Series.  The SouthEast Super Truck Series will also compete on Saturday night.
