CALLAWAY, VA :: Halloween Havoc is coming to Franklin County Speedway on Saturday night and will play host to the Southern Ground Pounders Vintage Racing Club’s season ending race as well as Open Wheel Modified racing. In addition, there will be a ride-along for kids, costume contests and a championship ceremony for Late Model champion Kyle Dudley.
The Modifieds are coming to Franklin County Speedway for the first time under Moonshine Capital Promotions management where blistering speeds will be on order. The Southern Ground Pounders will close out their season on Saturday night and the race will be the final points race for the Late Model Stock Car division, where Kyle Dudley has locked up the track championship – the third of his career at Franklin County Speedway. The Late Model race will also consist of a $1,000 bonus if the winner of Saturday’s race goes on to win the Bullring Battle on Sunday, November 10th.
“We’ve got a great racing program on tap,” Track Promoter Langley Austin said. “The Modifieds will put on a great show for the fans. We’re excited to have the Southern Ground Pounders coming back and running their season finale here. We’ve also got our Late Model points finale coming up and there’s still a lot of chances for drivers to gain points for second. We’ll also honor Kyle Dudley’s championship season which has consisted of seven wins so far.”
Along with the 50-lap Late Model feature and the Modifieds and Southern Ground Pounder races, the TunerZ, U-CAR, Mini Cup, Mini Stock and Street Stock divisions will all be in action and every race will be a double points race for the track divisions. A $100 bounty has been put out on Danny Bush in the 20-lap Street Stock race. Bush has won the last three Street Stock features at Franklin County Speedway. If Bush is competitive and another driver can beat him, they will take home $100 extra in cash along with their regular winnings.
Those divisions will have their points finale races on Saturday, November 9th.
Halloween Havoc will also be a fun night for families. Kids will get to ride around the track with their favorite drivers in their racecars. There will be a Halloween costume contest for drivers who choose to dress up as well as for spectators. Everyone will receive free candy and kids in costume will be admitted free.
“This is going to be the biggest Halloween party in Callaway,” Austin said. “All the kids will have a great time between the racecar rides and the costume contests. I’m sure we’ll see some unique things we’ve never seen before on Saturday. Along with the kids, some of our drivers will be dressing up as well as will our track employees. This will definitely be one of the more fun evenings at the track.”
Gates open at 1pm for Saturday’s Halloween Havoc and racing begins at 5pm. General admission is $10 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12 and kids five and under admitted free.
