Heat Race #1:

Ryan Repko lead Stacey Puryear and the rest of the field to green in the first heat race Sunday at Martinsville while Peyton Sellers start in 22nd, looking to win his first ValleyStar 300.

Early on, Ryan Repko pulled away until the field was bunched back up by a crash involving Jimmy Mullins and Justin Johnson.

Later in the race, on lap nine Mason Diaz and Michael Fose got together in turn two. Destroying Diaz’s car and forcing Fose to tear his front bumper off in order to rejoin the race.

Fose’s bad luck continued as he and Dillon ward got together just past half way but Fose got back out, still on the lead lap.

Phillip Morris on the first heat and got an automatic transfer spot.

Heat Race #2:

CE Falk and Matt Bowling Led the field to green for the second heat race but did not get far before the No. 29 of Brandon Baker got around on the backstretch, causing a complete restart.

Early on, Garrett Bunch and Kyle Dudley spun on the front stretch, Mark Wertz having already sustained damage in the test and in the practice, narrowly avoided another wreck, swerving low to avoid the two.

Right after going back green, Bunch, Ryan Wilson, Mark Kessee and Tyler English got together. Tyler English’s No.5 leaked fluid and caused a lengthy clean up with his car looking to be done for the day.

CE Falk started and stayed in front to win his heat race.

Heat Race #3:

Deac McCaskill and Tommy Lemons Jr led the final heat race to green, followed by the surprisingly quick Macy Causey and Danny Edwards.

Defending champ Tommy Lemons Jr fell off the pace early on and went a lap down after coming down pit road under green for a penalty caused by jumping the start.

The field regrouped after a pile up on the back stretch while the field worked lap causing the No. 81A of Zach Clifton, No.73 of Bruce Anderson and No.98A of BJ Mackey to go behind the wall with heavy damage.

Annabeth Barnes-Crum got into the turn four wall to bring out another caution is a caution filled third heat. Annabeth stalled out then re-fired her engine before bringing the car down pit road.

Bobby McCarty won the final heat in dominating fashion, joining him in advancing to the biggest Late Model race of them all.

Last Chance Race:

Peyton Sellers and Mark Wertz headlined the last chance race, a 25-lap affair to determine the rest of the lineup for the Super Bowl of Late Model racing.

Jimmy Wallace and Kyle Plott lead the field to green, followed by Mark Simpson and Cameron Bowen while Peyton Sellers started seventh.

Michael Fose and Annabeth Barnes-Crum got stacked up at the start with Kyle Dudley also receiving damage. Fose went up in smoke and that was the end of the day for the No. 54 and ending his hopes of taking home a grandfather clock.

Annabeth Barnes-Crum and Jimmy Mullins got together while Barnes-Crum held the transfer spot, even though she had multiple incidents throughout the day.

Pileups continued as Jimmy Wallace and Jamie Sweeny look to get hooked on the front tires and Sweeny drove over the top of Wallace’s No.21B taking the entire driver side door and left front fender off the car. During this caution, Mason Diaz who remarkably was in a transfer spot brought his No. 24 down pit road, losing his transfer spot for the time being. All of this happened before the race even hit halfway.

The second half the race ran smoothly with Peyton Sellers winning and transferring.

At the end of the race, coming to the checkers, Cameron Bowen spun out Trevor Wards for the transfer spot. As a result, the spot was given to Terry Caroll.
