Ridgeway, VA(November 1, 2012) — After moving the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300 to the week prior to the track’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series date this year, Martinsville Speedway will move the date back to it’s traditional weekend.

In 2013, the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300 date will move back to the first weekend in October.  That date, which next year will be October 6th, is the traditional weekend that the race has been held on in the past.  With the race coming on the first weekend of October or the final weekend of September traditionally since Martinsville went to having only a fall Late Model Stock Car race.

Many fans, who were disappointed with the new later date that they had this year, will be thrilled with the move back to the traditional weekend.  The move will also make the people who enjoy camping at the Late Model race happy as they were disappointed with the area in which they were allowed to camp this year due to campers already being in town for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series weekend.

The change will also help other race tracks that had to move their big races up a few weeks as not to clash with Martinsville.  It has also already raised speculation that South Boston Speedway will bring back their 300-lap race, the same weekend that they traditionally have held the event, two weeks after Martinsville.
