You’ve been asking when we were going to start debuting our Top 10 of 2010 Lists this year and after taking some extra time to think it over and make the right decisions, we’re ready to begin.  We’ll start with the Top 10 Best Appearing Cars of the 2010 Season and after we eliminated our list from over 100 cars down to 25, we narrowed it on down to 10 and the following cars are the best of the best …

10th — Scott Turlington #48

Scott Turlington has always had sharp looking cars and this year was no different as he displayed three different paint schemes and two of those put him Top 10 on the list in 10th.  Turlington, who had probably his best season in Late Model Stock Cars also debuted two cool paint schemes, one at Motor Mile and the other at Martinsville that we knew had to make the list.

9th — Clint King #07

Clint King may well have not got the results that he anticipated in his rookie campaign in the UARA-STARS Series, but his performances were almost always top fives before problems slowed his finishes.  His paint scheme for sponsor Carson-Dellosa Publishing was hot easily moved him up inside the top ten in the Paint Schemes.  After all, it featured green and with the colors of RACE22.com, no doubt we’d like it.

8th — Ralph Carnes #2

Ralph Carnes probably isn’t a name that many of you are as familiar with, but the Greenville Pickens and Anderson Speedway regular had a nice looking hot rod.  Carnes’ car featured flames and a uniquely cool looking #2, which moved him right up the list.  He’s also the only South Carolina driver to have his paint scheme featured in this years list.

7th — Lee Pulliam #3

Lee Pulliam’s car isn’t decorated in designer decals, but rather has a much more old school look with the silver and carolina-type blue colors.  Whether the numbers were white on the side of the car as they were at seasons start or blue as they finished the season, Pulliams car always looked good.  His car was especially sharp looking as it sat in victory lane many times this season.

6th — Brandon Dean #5

It was hard not to rate Brandon Dean and the Kiker Motorsports team cars higher as they had some of the best looking cars all year long.  From the green and black car that he debuted in 2009 to the yellow, orange, blue and black car he debuted this year … he always looked good on the track.  For the Kiker’s part, they also had two sharp rides at the end of 2010 with Frank Deiny’s paint schemes at Caraway and Myrtle Beach as well.

5th — Marc Davis #36

Though he only competed in a couple of races this season, Marc Davis always had one of the sharpest looking cars from his tribute car to his father at the Denny Hamlin Showdown to his black and white car at Myrtle Beach he had his #36 entry looking good.  Davis’ car at Myrtle Beach was enough to elevate him to inside the top five of the best looking cars in 2010.

4th — Lee Tissot #27

Veteran Late Model Stock Car racer, Lee Tissot has almost always had awesome looking cars, but this year as the Mitch West Racing team went back to an old school paint scheme, it was enough to put him toward the head of the class.  Danny O’Quinn and Mark Setzer piloted cars that looked much the same for West’s teams over the year, but Tissot really made it look good this season.

3rd — Kyle Waltz #1

Kyle Waltz’ number might have been one, but on this list he came in in third with a sharp looking paint scheme this season.  Waltz, who only made part time starts this season, made a splash in the Denny Hamlin Showdown with his new black, white, red and blue paint scheme that left a last ing impression on the RACE22.com staff.  Waltz’ new paint scheme finished just behind two of the baddest paint schemes of not only the year, but the decade.

2nd — Jamie Yelton #8

Alot of times in racing, rules are bent and sometimes even broken and in order to put this car on the list, we had to break our “more than three races” rule.  After all, we had already broken it for Marc Davis, so what the heck.  Jamie Yelton started the 2010 season off with this bad ass paint scheme that was in one our voters opinions “the most unique design ever”.  Yelton is always known for his cars looking good, but he’ll have to dig deep to top this one.

1st — Alex Yontz #55

After racing most of the season in the #98 Barber Automotive car, Alex Yontz separated from them and returned to his traditional black #55.  However, this wasn’t traditional at all as he was now behind the wheel of Jay Hedgecock’s house car, not his family owned team and had a hot new paint scheme that turned everyone’s heads when debuted at Martinsville.  This paint scheme got our panelists nod as the best of the year and put Yontz on top of the “Best Appearing Car” category.
