Southern National Motorsports Park will kick off the 2018 racing season on Saturday, March 3rd, waving the green flag on another action packed season of racing at the Lucama short track.

The March 3rd opener is a traditional opening date for Southern National Motorsports Park.  The first weekend in March has played host to the first race of the year every year since the track reopened except for 2015 and 2016.

Last year, the season opener was held on March 4th with the Dogwood 300 featuring 150 laps of Late Model Stock Car racing and 150 laps of PASS Super Late Model racing.  Lee Pulliam and Matt Craig won in those events.  Both drivers went on to win championships – Pulliam winning his fourth NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national championship and Craig winning the PASS South title.

The 2018 season will continue the tradition of short track racing in Wilson County.  Southern National Motorsports Park opened in 1993 and was in operation through 2008.  In 2012, the track was reopened.

The full 2018 season schedule, and other announcements regarding the year ahead, will be announced in the upcoming days and weeks.
