Southern National Motorsports Park and Carteret County Speedway are teaming up for a four race “Late Model Mania” series, which kicks off on Friday at Southern National.

The four race set will consists of two race dates at each track – each date featuring twin Late Model features.  The series will begin at Southern National on Friday, August 4th and then resume on Saturday, August 19th.  Following the two races at Southern National, Carteret County Speedway, located in Swansboro, North Carolina, will host races on Saturday, August 26th and Sunday, September 3rd.

The best two finishes in the four Late Model features at each track will be taken, that way a driver who misses one race at one track can still participate in the series.  On September 3rd, awards will be presented to the top-five finishes in the series, with first place paying $1,000 and being locked into the Late Model Stock Car portion of the Thanksgiving Classic on November 26th.  Second place pays $500, third place $250, fourth place $125 and fifth place $100.

“I was really happy that Bobby Watson and all the staff at Carteret County Speedway wanted to participate in this two-track series,” Southern National Motorsports Park track owner Michael Diaz said.  “When I called Bobby, he was more than excited to work with Southern National and thought it was a good fit.  Hopefully drivers will partake in the series.  We give them two events to go to each track, but they only have to go once, but going twice gives them more opportunities to improve their position. I think this a start of a good partnership with Southern National and Carteret.”

“We are very excited about this opportunity,” Carteret County Speedway track owner Bobby Watson said.  “In this day in age, tracks need to work together and we feel that Southern National and Carteret County are doing something on the right track to make Motorsports Grassroots exciting for the fans and drivers.  This is going to be a very big opportunity to showcase both race tracks and what awesome shows they put on with the Late Models. May the best driver win.”

In addition to being the opening act for the Late Model Mania race, Friday night’s StottStrong 195 presented by Solid Rock Carriers at Southern National will also be a “buy two, get two free” for tires as well – which reduces the cost for competitors at the track.
