SWANSBORO, NC – Carteret County Speedway is gearing up for its second full season of racing with 16 scheduled events set to take place in 2017.

The 2017 season will get underway on Sunday, March 12th with a drifting event while the “regular season” will kick off on Sunday, April 2nd. The season will continue with events planned each month through the end of October – with few scheduling conflicts with neighboring tracks in Lucama, North Carolina and Robersonville, North Carolina.

“We’re very excited about the 2017 season,” track owner Bobby Watson said. “We aren’t racing against Southern National Motorsports Park and East Carolina Motor Speedway every week which is good for our racers. We’ve also got a lot more races planned this year.”

After the regular season opens on April 2nd, racing will again pick up on Sunday, April 16th. Saturday, May 20th will play host to the first Saturday night race of the 2016 season and then racing will resume on Sunday night, May 28th.

Entering the summer months, races will be held on June 10th, June 24th, July 5th (a Wednesday night race), July 8th, July 19th (another Wednesday night event), August 12th, August 26th, September 23rd, October 14th and October 28th. In addition to those races, drifting action will again take place on Saturday, October 21st.

The race on Saturday, October 28th will be headlined by an exhibition event for the 602 Super Limited Series. The Limited Late Model tour, headed up by David Sell, is entering its second season after a successful inaugural tour.

A handful of other tours will visit Carteret County Speedway during the 2017 season, which will be announced in the upcoming weeks. Rules and purses will also be announced in the upcoming weeks.
