Over 70 Late Model drivers from the East Coast were hoping to make laps around Martinsville Speedway in preparation for the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 on Saturday evening, but all of them will have to wait another day as persistent rainfall shut down all on-track activity on Thursday evening.

Drivers and teams were greeted to a torrential downpour as they arrived at the track at 1 p.m., which carried on until approximately 4 p.m., which gave Martinsville track officials an opportunity to dry the track and get some practice in before midnight. While officials managed to make some progress on the track, heavy rains returned shortly before 7 p.m., which forced track officials to postpone the test session until tomorrow.

The Martinsville garage will open to teams and drivers at 7:30 a.m. in the morning, with cars expected to hit the track for a lengthy test session at 8:30 a.m. An updated schedule for the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 will be released later this evening.
