As we always do we present you with our Pre-Race Edition of the race22.com Power Rankings for the Valley Star Credit Union 300 at Martinsville Speedway. We’ve tried to compile a list of guys based on the following criteria; How a driver has run in 2017 and how he or she has performed in the past in this race.

Honorable Mentions:
Danny Edwards – Running top five when he ran out of gas last year.
Mason Diaz – Has had a stellar season and had a great car last year before getting wrecked in his heat race.
Travis Swaim – Has had incredible runs here in the past but has fallen back some in recent years.

22 – Justin T. Carroll – Wins at Hickory and in CARS Tour competition as well as a top ten finish here last year.
21 – Anthony Alfredo – JR Motorsports driver with wins on the CARS Tour this year.
20 – Myatt Snider – Great runs in the past and is willing to do anything for the win.
19 – Austin Thaxton – Top five last year and wins at South Boston.
18 – Jake Crum – Former winner of this race and is always a beast behind the wheel.
17 – Deac McCaskill – Has always run good here and is always a top contender anywhere he goes.
16 – Brenden Queen – He’s money on the big stage and there’s no bigger stage here.
15 – Ryan Repko – If he can avoid hitting the pace car, he can be a contender.
14 – CE Falk – He’s always a performer here and well….everywhere.
13 – Matt Bowling – Looked to be on his way to a win here before but with a new team and performing everywhere he goes.
12 – Nick Smith – Always up on the wheel and he can get the job done anywhere.
11 – Peyton Sellers – Needs to avoid jumping the start of a heat race but he could be one of the guys mixing it up upfront.
10 – Tommy Lemons, Jr. – He could easily lead this list but he’s not run good this year.  Of course the last two times he’s won he’s had dismal seasons.
9 – RD Smith – One of the fastest and most consistent guys at the test and has had one of the best cars before.
8 – Mike Darne – He seems to always find a way to be in the mix up front and always finds a way finish there.
7 – Timothy Peters – He’s in the mix everytime here and a past winner of the race.  He’s going to be a threat.
6 – Kres VanDyke – Second in 2003, third last year and willing to tear the fenders off to get a win.
5 – Bobby McCarty – Hampton Heat winner, South Boston multiple winner and a contender last year.
4 – Mike Looney – Last years winner, one of the best cars last week at the test and the only car to keep up with Philip Morris all year.
3 – Lee Pulliam – He’s going to be good if that National Champions Curse doesn’t bite him.
2 – Josh Berry – Alongside Philip and Lee he’s one of the best in the business and he’s eventually going to have the finish in this race he deserves.
1 – Philip Morris – He’s been the guy to beat all year in Virginia and it’s not going to change this weekend.
