Philip Morris enters the 2018 running of the Hampton Heat as the favorite to win and, on Friday, he showed why.

Morris ran the fastest lap in practice with a 15.816 on Friday during an afternoon practice for the 25 teams on hand for the Hampton Heat 200 at Larry King Law’s Langley Speedway.  Peyton Sellers, who won the event in 2013, was second quickest with a 15.938 while defending winner Bobby McCarty was third with a 15.957.  Justin T. Carroll and Danny Edwards rounded out the top-five.

Former winners Matt Bowling and CE Falk timed inside the top-10.  The other two former winners in the field, Woody Howard and Nick Smith, were 11th and 12th respectively.

The fastest two drivers ran the Chevy “SPEC” upgrade motor while McCarty ran a Harrington Enforcer engine.

Third year driver Maddy Ryan Mulligan ran the most laps during the practice session, 56 laps total.  Her fastest time was a 19.509 on her 45th lap.
