NASCAR Whelen All-American Series officials have released a penalty on Jeff Oakley for the August 10, 2019 incident at Dominion Raceway with Trent Barnes.

Oakley retaliated under caution after Barnes spun him while they were racing for a position outside of the top five during the late stages of the final 60-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock Car race two weekends ago.

Oakley was reprimanded by NWAAS officials under section 12-1: Actions detrimental to stock car racing and section 12-6.1 Member Conduct Guidelines B.3: Intentionally damaging another vehicle under yellow or red flag conditions or in the pits.

Oakley was placed on probation until December 31, 2019 and is suspended until his $500 fine is paid by NWAAS officials.

Dominion Raceway has not released the penalty information yet but they’re expected to follow along with the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series penalty despite cries from other teams, drivers and fans for him to be suspended as have other drivers in other divisions this season for what they view as similar incidents. It would be unorthodox for the track to override the NWAAS decision and add additional penalties.

Oakley once his fine is paid can compete in the next event at Dominion Raceway on August 31, 2019 which will feature twin NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock Car races. Oakley is also entered in this weekend’s CARS Tour race at Orange County Speedway possibly in anticipation of being suspended.
