When the smoke cleared from Friday night’s Limited Sportman race at Motor Mile Speedway, it was 15-year-old Ryan Repko standing in victory lane for the first time in his career.

Repko found himself with a shot to win on a late race green-white-checkered finish after frontrunners Julia Landauer and Scott Lancaster were tangled up in an incident.  Repko restarted the race to the outside of Dylan Saul.

On the final lap of the race, Repko pinched Saul on the inside lane exiting turn two.  Saul’s car snapped loose and then bounced off the inside wall into oncoming traffic taking out nearly the entire field at the entrance of turn three.

“I was restarting second,” Repko said of the incident.  “What happened was, I pinched down [Saul] and he caught the apron, got loose and collected a few people.”

Repko raced back to the checkered flag to score his first career Late Model victory.

“The trophy was awesome,” Repko remarked.  “I’m pretty excited. Gotta thank everyone who’s helped me get here.”

The victory was a confidence boost for the young gun from Denver, North Carolina.  With his first win now out of the way, he’s ready to score some more victories.

“Now I know my equipment and I can do it,” Repko stated.  “I’m pumped up.  I’m ready to race again.  I’m pretty excited.”
