Fredericksburg, VA(January 21, 2011) — The SouthEast Limited Late Model Series seems to be garnering a lot of attention here lately as more and more drivers keep signing up to run the second year series.

You can add one more name to that growing list as Legends car standout, Jake Morris has thrown his name in the ring to race the full eight race schedule this season. Morris, who has been one of the top talents in Inex Legends car racing over the last year or so will be jumping behind the wheel of a Limited Late Model to get more experience racing the bigger, heavier cars as he continues his move up the ranks.

Morris has been racing Legends out of the shop of former USAR Pro Cup Series driver, Chase Pistone, who is as well known in Late Model and Limited racing as he is in the Legends car world. Morris will continue to race Legends cars for Pistone and will even be behind the wheel of one of Pistone’s Limited Late Model cars.

“Chase Pistone has led us to many wins in the legend car ranks and he is a known winner in the Limited late model ranks also, so it wasnt hard for use to make this move,” said Morris recently.

Morris is equally as confident in how he’ll run this season even in his first time in a Late Model type chassis as he is in Pistone’s abilities.

“I believe we will give them a run for their money in the Southeast Tour,” continued Morris. “We chose the tour because we wanted to run on new tires every race and travel without having the big motors and such that some weekly tracks have to deal with. My dad decided it was time to do something else and this is where we have landed.”

Morris is certainly excited about his opportunity to move up and with the kind of success he’s seen at every level including coming up short in second position in the Inex Legends Car National Championship standings, this kid will no doubt give them a run for their money. He’ll also be competing on his off weeks at Hickory Motor Speedway in the Late Model Stock Car division, due to being able to run on new tires every week.

“We are going to compete for the championship in the Southeast Limited deal and on the off weekends we will be racing at Hickory in the Late Model division. Because, one thing my dad has said from the beginning is he doesnt want to draw for used tires and you have to at Hickory in the Limiteds, so I’ll get some laps running Late Models instead.”

Morris driving for Chase Pistone Inc. will utilize the LTO Chassis from Performancenter Racing Warehouse, which has been one of the winningest chassis in all of Late Model racing over the past few years. The customer service by Performancenter should give him a leg up on some of his competition this season as the youngster makes the move to the Late Model type cars, which showed last fall as they helped lead Austin McDaniels winning the two final SouthEast Limited Late Model Series races.
