CALLAWAY, VA :: Moonshine Capital Promotions (MCP) announced the 2013 schedule for Franklin County Speedway earlier today.  The opening day of the season will be on May 11th as previously announced.  MCP will also run on the tracks traditional holiday dates including the Memorial Day Bash, the Independence Day Spectacular and the Labor Day Classic in its 11 race schedule.

“We’re excited to get the schedule released,” said Langley Austin, promoter of Franklin County Speedway.  “We’ve worked really hard to get this schedule worked out without trying to step on other race tracks dates.  We’ve got several of the track’s traditional dates but the main thing is that the drivers won’t have to worry about deciding whether or not to race here or elsewhere very often.”

The Late Model division rules will be set in accordance with the NASCAR Whelen All American Series rule book, allowing drivers from other tracks to compete at Franklin County Speedway.  We also anticipate allowing a weight break for the Limited Late Models that compete with the zz4 fast burn Chevrolet crate engine at area tracks to allow them to be competitive.  Other divisions will run by the tracks 2012 rule book with no rule changes anticipated.

“We’re trying to keep a lot of stuff the same this season as far as rules and other stuff,” said Austin.  “We know that these guys work hard for their money and most of them were already ready to go racing before we leased the track.  So we’ll leave that stuff alone and make some adjustments to allow the Limited guys to be competitive.  I think it’s important to get as many cars in there this year as possible.”

The season will open on May 11th with every division competing.  The second race of the season will be on Memorial Day.  The track will host one race in June, on June 8th and then take a month off ahead of the Independence Day Spectacular on July 4th.  The Southern Ground Pounders will be in town on August 3rd for the SummerSlam.  On August 24th, FCS will host Legends Night.  The Labor Day Classic will be on Sunday, September 1st.  The Southern Ground Pounders will be back in town on September 21st.  The Moonshine Classic will be run on September 28th.  October 12th will see the “Prelude to the Battle” and, on October 25th and 26th, the Bullring Battle, a two day show, will host the grand finale of the 2013 season.
