Fans at Bowman Gray Stadium have become used to the flashy outfits and the elegant announcing of Randy Pettitt during the years, but Pettitt confirmed on Monday that he would not be back at the Madhouse in 2018.

Instead, Pettitt will assume the role of General Manager at Carteret County Speedway in 2018.  He began working with the Coastal North Carolina track back in August – announcing races and helping with promotion and media coverage.

“I have agreed to accept an offer to become the full-time General Manager of Carteret County Speedway for the 2018 season,” Pettitt said in a Facebook post.  “This is bittersweet news since I have my family and so many friends I am leaving behind in the greater Winston-Salem area.  This means I will not be ‘the voice’ of Bowman Gray Stadium Racing’s 70th season in 2018.  This is an opportunity years in the making … I will be a part of the Bowman Gray Racing preview on January 14th.”

When announcing races at Carteret County, Pettitt called the 4/10-mile one of the most beautiful tracks in the country.

Pettitt announced at Bowman Gray for 11 total seasons over two stints – first from 1989 through 1994 and most recently from 2013 through 2017.
