NASCAR has suspended Bowman Gray Stadium Street Stock driver KJ Stimpson indefinitely following an apparent verbal altercation with officials following Saturday night’s 50 lap Street Stock feature.

Stimpson had scored the victory in the race with a last lap bump-and-run on Steven Berrier but was disqualified after the race for failing postrace technical inspection.

Prior to his disqualification, Stimpson was excited about his victory.

“I’ve had the fastest car all freaking year,” Stimpson said to RACE22.com’s Corey Latham following his victory.  “To come back here for the biggest race of the season and do something a Stimpson hasn’t done in 30 years racing over here, I can’t even put it into words.”

NASCAR has suspended Stimpson for the following infractions: Section 12-4A: Actions detrimental to stock car racing, Section 12-4D: Threatening to do bodily harm to Track Officials, Section 12-4F: Involved in an altercation with and verbal abuse to Track Officials.

All NASCAR sanctioned tracks in the region have been notified of Stimpson’s suspension, which is effective immediately.
