Josh Berry claimed his third Championship Auto Racing Series (CARS) Late Model Stock Tour victory of 2015 in the Liberty University 300 at Hickory Motor Speedway, while Brayton Haws finished fifth to bring home the inaugural championship in the touring series.

Berry dominated the last third of the race, taking the lead from Clay Rogers on lap 94 following a power move to the inside of Rogers and Spencer Davis. After taking the lead, Berry easily stretched out an advantage over eventual second-place finisher Tommy Lemons, Jr. and the rest of his competitors.

With the victory, Berry also gave himself a shot at a massive payday later in the evening. Berry is one of eight drivers attempting the Double Duty Dare in tonight’s Liberty University 300, starting both the Late Model Stock and Super Late Model portions of the program. If Berry can back up this win with a victory in the Super Late Model race, he will claim a $40,000 bonus on top of his winnings.

Brayton Haws started on the pole for the event, and never ran lower than sixth in the running order to claim the inaugural CARS Late Model Stock Tour championship with limited drama. His title contenders, points leader Myatt Snider and Deac McCaskill, spent most of the race outside the top ten and never threatened Haws on the track.

Haws claimed three victories in the first five races of the season, but did not return to victory lane in the second half of the campaign.  Nonetheless, the strength of his first half and consistent finishes to close the season earned Haws the championship.

Behind Berry and Lemons were Tyler Ankrum, Clay Rogers, and Haws. Shane Lee, Deac McCaskill, Michael Fose, Bradley McCaskill, and Snider rounded out the top ten.
