Speedy Faucette has totally dominated Ace Speedway dating back to last year. His closest competition has been in the form of past track champion Rodney Cook, and many have seen, the two drivers aren’t exactly best friends. Matter of fact, they have one of the most known rivalries going in short track racing today. Tonight the #14 Ford Fusion of Cook will once again take aim at Speedy, but Rodney will not be behind the wheel. But a multi-time track champion and Bailey’s 300 winner will.

Cook had has appendix taken out earlier in the week, and the doctors told him to sit this one out. I thought for sure he would be there, he’s a die-hard racer, but it was too soon after having the surgery.

“It is probably going to kill me to not be in that car, but Jason York is going to be there in the Ford Fusion and he’s gonna give Speedy all he wants”, said the recovering Cook.

York is one of the hottest drivers in the area, having raced sporadically in 2008, picking up wins nearly 90% of the times he raced. The year was capped off by his biggest win to date, as he took the checkered flag at Martinsville, after Dennis Setzer and Philip Morris got into an altercation late in the race for the lead.

Rodney has been asked to help out the Racing Dynamics driver development team, and as rumors spread on the internet, the press release from the team seemed a little misleading to his involvement. Rodney will simply give feedback to the team, and has no plans to end his driving career as some had thought by the many emails we recieved the past 2 days.

“Make that clear to all my fans, I AM NOT RETIRING”, Cook said with surprise. “I’m going to be back at Ace and lots of different places as the year progresses, I promise you that. I just had to have this surgery done, I actually sold my appendix for a set of tires,” he said jokingly.
