Trey Gibson set out to get avenge his disqualification from a win and a second place finish at Greenville Pickens Speedway two weeks ago on opening night.  Round two of nine nights of Late Model Stock Car action proved to be the perfect night for him to set the record straight and show that the infraction from the last race had nothing to do with him getting to victory lane.

Gibson did just that.  After picking up the win in race one on the night, taking the lead on a late race restart he wasn’t about to give up the lead in race two starting from the pole position.  His biggest competition this season is coming from rookie Chase Purdy who finished second for the first time all season tonight in race one after picking up wins in a February Limited Late Model race and in the twins on opening night.

Purdy was the late race leader in race one when Gibson took the top spot and went on to win.  He wouldn’t be much of a factor in race two as Gibson drove away to the win surviving several cautions including an extended red flag when the back half of the field crashed on lap one of the season race of the night.  With Gibson out front Purdy was settled into second until Ryan Walker, who led the most laps in race one, slipped by him for second on lap 23.  Purdy made his way back to the second position a couple of laps later only to back to fifth just past halfway.

Purdy would never recover and would finished in sixth.  Rodney Howard, who posted the fastest time in qualifying, would make the biggest recovery of night after finishing 17th in the first race he made his way to finish second in race two.  Multi-time Hickory Motor Speedway 2015 winner Landon Huffman fought his way to finish third ahead of Anthony Alfredo matching his fourth place finish from the first race.  Dylan Hall would finish fifth.

Purdy, Ralph Carnes, Ryan Walker, Greg Tinsley and Lance Gatlin completed the top ten finishers.  Neil Meredith, David Roberts, RD Smith, Richard Starkey and Will Burns were all eliminated in a lap one crash that put the field under a lengthy red flag.  The accident also involved several other cars and Tyler English retired from the race on lap 3.
