Pounding Mill, VA(August 16, 2012) — Adam Long has been one of the cars to beat in nearly every trip to Kingsport Speedway this season and he’s hoping that this Friday he can be the “King of the Concrete Jungle”.

Long, who won his first career race on the 3/8 mile concrete track on June 8th has been in contention to win in nearly every start this season including being taken out of the lead twice after leading the most laps. With three second place finishes and just three finishes outside the top five, Long has proven that he is one of the cars to beat at Kingsport Speedway, but this weekend all eyes will be on winning the Tri-Cities TN State Championship 150.

Long, who has raced much of his career at nearby Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, VA, has just this season made Kingsport Speedway his home track and while most of the Kingsport regulars are used to running with just two new tires weekly under the tracks two-tire rule, Long’s time at Motor Mile has him prepared for this Friday nights four-tire race.

“I think the four tire race will suit me better than the two tire races have,” said Long. “I’m used to putting on a set of stickers every week at Motor Mile, so this will be like every race we’ve run there. I like the two-tire deal, but I think this four tire race will play right into our hands.”

Long isn’t shy about his desire to get in some more wins before this season is over either as he’s been really close on too many occasions.

“We won that race back in June and then the two races that followed we got run over after leading most of the race. That was the most frustrating part for us. We knew that we should have had at least two more wins at that point and we still only have the one. Then the flat tire last week in the first twin killed our chances at two more wins. It’s time to get this monkey off our back again.”

Long will certainly have plenty of competition in the twin 75-lap races as several outsiders are expected to make their way to Kingsport, TN to take on the regulars and steal the $3,000 prize money up for grabs. However, Long wants to two trophies this weekend himself.

“I’m looking for two trophies this weekend,” said Long. “My guys have worked their butts off week after week and for us to have only the one win to our credit isn’t indicative of how we’ve run. These guys deserve to ride home with two trophies this weekend and that’s our plan.
