Pounding Mill, VA(October 23, 2012) – Adam Long had a strong showing in Sunday’s Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300 at Martinsville Speedway with a top-ten effort. Long started the race in 29th and worked his way through the field to finish in 10th.

Long’s day started with an eighth place finish in the first heat race, locking him in to the 150 lap feature event. He started 29th and methodically worked his way through the field. Long was able to avoid incidents and ended the day with a top ten finish on Late Model Stock Car racing’s biggest stage.

“This was a great day,” Long said. “We started deep in the field but we were able to get up to 10th place. This says a lot for our team. These guys put a lot of work in to the car and we steadily improved through the weekend. They made a change Saturday that worked perfectly.”

Long started sixth in the first heat race and was able to hold on to an eighth place finish, guaranteeing him a starting spot and saving him the stress of having to run the last chance qualifying race.

“We caught some lucky breaks today. Starting mid field, we could’ve been caught up in any number of accidents, but that didn’t happen. We just need to work on qualifying better so we can have a better starting spot next year and contend for the win.”

Long felt that if the late restarts had played out differently, he could have had a much better finish.

“We passed the guy who finished third late in the race,” continued Long. “Those late restarts cost us some positions, but I think if thingd had fell in place we would have had a top five finish. I guess I’ll take 10th and be happy, but I’m really not as happy as I should be.”
