Late Models will take to Carteret County Speedway on Saturday for their first race of the season with a handful of changes ahead.

Carteret County’s Late Model program will run under the Southeast Limited Late Model rulebook, similar to the rules from the inaugural season in 2016.  In addition to the rules changes, the Late Model division will run on the harder, more durable Hoosier F-50 tire.

“We got a lot of feedback from racers and decided to go back to what worked in 2016,” track owner Bobby Watson said.  “We’re glad to be running on the F-50 tire.  I think it will produce better racing and, in the long run, will be more beneficial to racers and teams.”

A set of race tires will run $450 while practice tires will run $150 per tire.  The rules are posted on the Carteret County Speedway website.

The Late Models will run for 100 laps with a 15 minute intermission at halfway.  The East Coast Flathead Ford Association, Champ Karts, Mini-Stocks, U-CARs and Mini Cups will also be in action on Saturday.  The green flag will fly at 7pm.
