The 2015 Limited Late Model division at Caraway Speedway started 2015 the same way it ended 2014: With a Ross “Boo Boo” Dalton victory.

Dalton claimed the lead on lap five, passing pole-sitter Amber Burchette on a restart and leading the rest of the way.  Dalton also won the 2014 season opener at the .455 mile oval in Sophia, North Carolina, as well as two races at Ace Speedway last season.

Much like the Late Model Stock race which preceded it, the 30-lap race was a battle of attrition. There were four cautions in the event, and four cars finished the race.

Chase Hunt, last year’s Street Stock champion at Bowman Gray Stadium, was involved in the race’s first caution, but was able to rejoin the race on the lead lap and battled back to a second place finish.

William Gunter finished third, the only driver other than Dalton to avoid the carnage entirely, while Burchette finished fourth.

The biggest incident of the race came on the first restart of the race, following Hunt’s and Brewer’s accident. Burchette struggled on the restart, backing up the field behind her. Jason Tutterow and Josh Lowder both suffered heavy front-end damage in the chain reaction, with Tutterow unable to return to the race.

The Limited Late Models will return to action this Saturday at Caraway. The division will run a 40-lap race as part of their Spring Classic Modified weekend, headlined by the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour’s season opener.
