Check out the list below for the “Top 10 Best Performances” from the 2010 in Late Model Stock Car racing.  We’ve sat down and gone over all the best performances of the season and after narrowing it down to the top 25, we have taken it all the way down to the Top 10.

10th — Clint King/Kingsport

The only rookie to make the list is none other than the only rookie on the UARA-STARS tour to win a race, Clint King.  The performance he displayed in his lone win at Kingsport Speedway in Kingsport, TN where he took the lead early on and held off a hard charging, Lee Tissot for the victory.  It was a performance you’d expect from a veteran, but the youngster showed his abilities with the dominating win.

9th — Lee Pulliam/SoBo

Lee Pulliam didn’t win any of the big races, nor did he win a championship, but his performances beginning around mid-season put him head shoulders above the competition during that part of the season.  Pulliam picked up five victories in the last nine races of the season to solidify himself on everyone’s “Best Performance” list.  Pulliam also backed it up with an incredible Martinsville performance as well in the SoBo 300.

8th — Brennan Poole/UARA

Brennan Poole didn’t just dominate one race, he dominted the whole UARA-STARS Series.  Poole picked up six official wins in the UARA as the only series regular to win multiple races.  He also broke records with not only total wins in a season(6), but also by winning three in a row, which had never been done before.  It was certainly a season of domination for one of the hot young drivers.

7th — Jeremy Burns/Greenville

Going into the SH Carter 150 at Greenville Pickens Speedway, everyone was predicting Marty Ward or Randy Porter to be the drivers to beat, but come time for the race and it was a young relative unknown taking home the win.  Jeremy Burns burst from the shadows of the veteran drivers and put himself on the map by dominating the event and winning $10,000.

6th — Philip Morris/SoBo 300

Philip Morris’ name comes up a lot when we’re talking about Late Model Stock Car racing, but this year he’s one of only two drivers to have their performances to put them in the top 10.  As the laps wound down in the Danville Toyota 300 at South Boston it appear as if Lee Pulliam was going to take home the win, but a small bump on the last lap moved Philip into the lead, giving him his second straight big race win.

5th — Michael Rouse/Myrtle

Michael Rouse had been winless in nearly two full seasons of racing on the UARA-STARS Series tour, but the underfunded driver had begun to make his presence known as the season rolled on.  Rouse then put on the performance of his life as he saved his tires just right and found himself leading the Myrtle Beach race late.  A late caution gave him a handful of laps to hold off Alex Yontz for the win and the youngster did.

4th — Brennan Poole/Greenville

Philip Morris wasn’t the only driver to make his presence on this list twice as Brennan Poole was able to put himself on here with a big time performance at Greenville Pickens Speedway.  Poole dominated the race weekend from testing to practice to qualifying, but in the race he knocked the toe out and still managed to maintain second the whole race.  It would have been impressive had he finished second, but the youngster drove his heart out and used his bumper to take the win away in the closing laps.

3rd — CE Falk/DH Showdown

The Denny Hamlin Showdown at Southside Speedway was a big time event, but even with spectacualr crashes, cars on their side and even one on its top, it was the finish that stole the show.  Denny Hamlin himself looked poised to take home the win, but local boy, CE Falk put it on him on the final lap in the final turn and pulled away to take home the win.  It was certainly Falk’s biggest career triumph and to come against a host of NASCAR Cup drivers was special.

2nd — Philip Morris/Martinsville

If there was ever any doubt about Philip Morris and his abilities they were all erased in two primetime performances to end the 2010 season.  The first of which was a total domination of the biggest annual Late Model Stock Car race, the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300 at Martinsville Speedway.  Morris survived some late race cautions after leading most of the race to pick up his second win in the big race.

1st — Frank Deiny/Myrtle 400

Most of the above performances were dominating performances that put the drivers in victory lane at the end of the race.  The #1 performance however was far from ordinary as the driver came from the mid 20’s with just 20 laps to go to win the final race of the 2010 Late Model Stock Car season.  Frank Deiny, Jr. put on a clinic in the Myrtle Beach 400 coming from the next to last car on the lead lap to win a bizzare race.  It was center the most masterful performance of the season and quite possible of the decade.
