Series PR Report

Raleigh, NC(May 12, 2012) — Austin Leitner became the first two time winner in the CCS/PASS Super Limited Series in 2012 winning the Capital City Clash/Bull Ring Tough Guy Challenge 50 presented by Bio-Specialists. Leitner charged to the front early in the fifty lap race making a pass from fifth to second just five laps in on his way to the win. Jody Measemer continued to be the bridesmaid as he scored his third second place finish in four races. Twelve year old Tate Fogleman who has already scored a win this season rounded out the podium.

Jeff Batten in his #49 machine and #57 Cole Timm lead the field to the green flag but it was Leitner, from TBA, North Carolina, that stole the show early in the going after a mid-pack starting position. Timm, the latest series winner having won at Ace Speedway just two weeks ago, jumped out to the lead to get the race started leading the first nine laps before succumbing to Leitner’s #5 machine. Meanwhile Jody Measemer quickly recovered from a lap three spin that sent him to the rear after starting fourth. The veteran driver managed to take over the second place position just fourteen circuits in and then turned his focus on Leitner.

A lap nineteen incident in turn two involving track regular #16 Robert Arch that ended his night with heavy nose damage forced officials to display the caution flag once again. This was all that Measemer needed to take the lead on a lap twenty restart. His time at the lead position was short lived as he never really cleared Leitner’s machine allowing the youngster to regain the lead position on lap twenty six. From there it was all Leitner as he cruised to the win leading the final twenty four laps on his way to the win after winning the Hickory event in early April.

“We had a good car from the time we unloaded we just had to start a little deeper in the field because of the redraw. I fell back there a bit right at the start but as soon as we got to go green flag racing my Mid State Roofing Chevy came alive and had a great battle with Jody (Measemer),” said Leitner. “It’s pretty cool to be the series first ever repeat winner. I just want say a huge thanks to all my guys who help make this him happen.”
